She graduated with a UX/UI Design Certification from the Thinkful bootcamp specializing in user-centered design and research. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology.
Kimberly is currently working as a UX Designer with the African Marine Mammal Conservation Organization where she gets to collaborate with an agile, international, cross-functional team of UX Designers, Developers and a product manager to redesign and create a responsive website as well as to update and design new features for the mobile application to help marine biologists, fishermen and government organizations with tracking, studying and reporting sea turtles and other marine life for conservation efforts.
Background and Experience
Over the course of her life, Kimberly has worn many different hats including being an entrepreneur, small business owner, martial arts/fitness instructor, customer service professional and photographer.
Her background and experience as a customer service professional has also given her the tools to be highly effective at both written and verbal communication. Her work in customer service has taught her empathy and to be an active listener.
Being an entrepreneur and former small business owner of a martial arts studio in Colorado for 10 years has also taught her to be innovative and to constantly strive to learn, seek improvement and test solutions to find the best one for the business.
Her initial interest in design started with running her own business. She designed her own ads and marketing campaigns and learned to use different design tools. She also created and managed the website (using a website builder with an integrated content management system) and tracked website traffic and the effectiveness of the marketing campaigns with Google Analytics.
Interests
Outside of work, Kimberly is dedicated to her martial arts and fitness training as well as staying active in the outdoors with her husband and two children. She is a 5th degree black belt in ITF Taekwon-Do and an International champion. She has been training in the martial arts for over 20 years.
She loves challenging herself with new goals. She credits her success in her martial arts and fitness training as well as with her competition career to her discipline, focus, goal setting and drive for success, which are traits she brings to her professional career. Kimberly has had the opportunity to compete internationally in Taekwon-Do tournaments with the International Taekwon-Do Federation and has traveled to Ireland, the Netherlands, Australia and Germany. She won two silver medals at the 2018 ITF Taekwon-Do World Cup in Sydney, Australia and also a team silver at the 2019 ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships in Inzell, Germany. Her most notable win was a gold medal in Power Breaking at the 2018 Holland Cup in Delft, Netherlands.
Kimberly also finds inspiration for her designs and storytelling through her photography, traveling and adventuring in the outdoors. She is a creative being and loves viewing the world through different lenses.

Testimonials
“I’ve had many bad team experiences in the past, but being on a team with Kimberly was one of my best experiences. She helped lead the project and put in the extra hours the project needed to finish on time. She has an eye for branding, creating mockups and prototyping. I would definitely suggest working with her for anything UX/UI related!
